Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy/Procedure

Introduction

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that acknowledges the skills and knowledge a learner has gained through previous education, work experience, or informal learning. At TEFL Fullcircle, we recognize that learners come from diverse backgrounds and possess a wide range of experiences that may contribute to their understanding and mastery of course content. Our RPL policy aims to facilitate access to our programs by assessing and recognizing these prior achievements, allowing learners to progress more efficiently through their studies. This document outlines the procedures, criteria, and benefits associated with the RPL process at TEFL Fullcircle.

  • Avoid duplication of learning by granting credit for previously acquired competencies.
  • Encourage lifelong learning by valuing and recognizing diverse educational and professional experiences.
  • This policy applies to all learners seeking admission to TEFL Fullcircle courses and programs. It is relevant for both domestic and international learners who wish to have their prior learning recognized for academic credit or course exemptions.

TEFL Fullcircle uses a comprehensive set of criteria to assess prior learning and determine eligibility for credit or exemptions. The assessment process evaluates the following:

  • Relevance: The prior learning must be relevant to the course outcomes and competencies of the program for which the learner is seeking credit.
  • Level: The prior learning should match the level of complexity and depth expected in the course or program.
  • Currency: The knowledge and skills acquired through prior learning should be current and applicable to the present context.
  • Authenticity: The evidence provided by the learner must be authentic, demonstrating that the learning was achieved by the individual seeking recognition.
  • Sufficiency: The evidence must be sufficient to substantiate the claim for credit, covering all aspects of the learning outcomes.
  • RPL Application Procedure

The RPL application procedure at TEFL Fullcircle involves several steps to ensure a thorough and fair assessment of prior learning:

  1. Initial Inquiry

Learners interested in applying for RPL should first contact the TEFL Fullcircle admissions office to express their interest and obtain information about the process.
